How Shopify is betting on social commerce to increase growth

When Charged sat down to chat to Shopify director of EMEA expansions and partnerships Deann Evans, she said was “really keen” to join the company in August 2021 on its “mission to help more and more merchants.” However since then, Shopify has endured a bit of a rollercoaster ride.

There was a brief moment at the beginning of the year when there was real hope within Shopify’s headquarters in Ottawa that the Canadian ecommerce giant had Amazon in its sights. The ecommerce sector had come off the back of a record year of profits, with sales at $870bn in the US alone.
