It will come as no surprise that when looking at the top players in U.S. ecommerce, Amazon leads the pack. What might be surprising is exactly how much of a lead the digital behemoth has.
Amazon is expected to make a staggering $367 billion in ecommerce sales in 2021, more than five times that of its next closest competitor, Walmart, which is projected to bring in a still respectable $64.62 billion, according to new research from eMarketer. In fact, this year Amazon will rake in more in online sales than the next nine ecommerce players combined, which include eBay, Apple, Best Buy and Target.
