Online retail sales boosted the retail sector’s performance in July despite the cost-of-living crisis hitting consumers’ wallets.
Retail sales volumes rose by 0.3% in July 2022 following a fall of 0.2% in June 2022 and are now 2.3% above their pre-pandemic February 2020 levels, despite being down over the past year.
July’s boost is a stark contrast to the 1.2% drop in the three months to July 2022, as sales volumes dropped by 1.2% over the three month period when compared with the previous three months.
