Amazon is on track to open physical and online supermarkets in Australia in the next two years. Items in the store would mostly be fresh and in need of inspection by consumers before purchasing such as fruit, vegetables, dairy and meat.
Within the physical stores would be kiosks that let consumers buy tens of thousands of additional products online for delivery. In addition, consumers could buy online at home and pick up groceries via a drive-thru lane at the store.
