Mastercard trials Digital ID for online shopping

Mastercard has partnered with a New South Wales Government executive agency (NSW) and online liquor vendor Tipple in Australia to offer a smooth age verification process for customers shopping online.

The new programme utilises Mastercard’s existing digital identity service, ID – a global ID verification network that authenticates users directly via Mastercard’s service which uses data encryption.

“In today’s landscape, there needs to be a better way to provide quick and easy access to goods and services, without the hassle of sharing physical ID documents. Mastercard is working with the public and private sectors to build a national identity ecosystem where citizens can trust that their personal information is safe and secure.
