A two-week delivery window used to be the norm, while next-day delivery was a premium service. Today, if a package isn’t on the customer’s doorstep within a day or two, they’ve already fired off an angry tweet.
This is mostly thanks to the well-documented “Amazon Effect.” Amazon popularized next-day delivery and free returns. Of course, Amazon can usually keep up with those expectations. Smaller logistics companies don’t have the infrastructure or resources, but consumers still expect the same service.
