The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology and the Law hosted a hearing exploring the oversight of artificial intelligence (AI) on Tuesday.
The hearing, “Oversight of A.I.: Rules for Artificial Intelligence,” was the first in a series of hearings intended to “write the rules of AI,” presiding chair Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said in his opening. He kicked off the Senate panel hearing with text written by OpenAI’s ChatGPT and audio generated by a voice application trained on his Senate floor speeches.
