Guernsey Post Launches myUKaddress to Boost Online Shopping Access

October 17, 2024

Guernsey Post has recently unveiled a groundbreaking initiative designed to enhance online shopping accessibility for residents of Guernsey with the introduction of the myUKaddress service. The new offering provides island residents with a unique UK delivery address, facilitating purchases from retailers that do not ship directly to the Channel Islands. By addressing a common frustration faced by many islanders—restricted mainland deliveries—this service aims to make e-commerce more convenient and accessible. Cassandra Fish, head of commercial at Guernsey Post, emphasized that the service is free to sign up for and features a transparent pricing structure for each parcel. Once items arrive at the UK parcel hub in Portsmouth, they are then shipped to Guernsey and delivered by local postal workers. This initiative is designed to eliminate the barriers that have traditionally hindered online shopping for Guernsey residents by providing a seamless UK address hub.

In addition to the myUKaddress service, Guernsey Post is also launching RockShopper, an initiative aimed at further simplifying online shopping for residents. RockShopper will feature a comprehensive list of online retailers that either deliver directly to Guernsey or are accessible using the myUKaddress service. Highlights of this service include features such as VAT deductions at checkout for Guernsey residents, free delivery options, and easy return processes. Collectively, these enhancements are poised to make online shopping more streamlined and hassle-free for island residents. By establishing partnerships with various retailers and offering logical solutions to common obstacles, Guernsey Post is making significant strides in improving e-commerce accessibility. This strategic move reflects a clear trend towards bridging logistical gaps and enhancing consumer convenience for the residents of Guernsey.
