As retailers across the US work to solve supply chain issues related to the delays and ripple effects of COVID-19, some are turning to pre-orders and backorder models as stop-gap solutions.
These models allow retailers to continue to sell and generate revenue while keeping customers informed that fulfillment will take a bit longer than usual.
As a recent report from McKinsey stated: “Open communication with customers can fill in at least some gaps [as retailers work] to navigate uncertain and ever-evolving conditions successfully.”
