Rapid grocery delivery services facing backlash from cities

Ultra-fast grocery delivery apps are facing backlash from the cities they operate in, BBC news reports.

Amsterdam and Rotterdam recently banned any new “dark stores” from opening, following complaints they were causing disruption. Dark stores are distribution centres used to fulfil grocery orders and deliveries.

Amsterdam’s deputy mayor Marieke Van Doornick told Reuters: “The business model of these companies is that they want to deliver groceries in 10 minutes.”
