The Justice Department sued Walmart a week ago about the company’s role in the opioid crisis. The claim centers around the Walmart chain of pharmacies filling millions of opioid prescriptions, thousands of which were suspicious according to authorities quoted by the New York Times.
Walmart has a pharmacy in everyone of its stores. The company is also developing free standing pharmacies that will service their customers. Most pharmacies are open the full time the store is open, although at some locations the pharmacist has specific hours and only over-the-counter merchandise can be bought at other times.
