Amazon is giving grocery picking gig-economy workers roles at Whole Foods

Amazon is offering grocery picking gig-economy workers roles at its Whole Foods subsidiary, according to documents viewed by CNBC.

In late February, Amazon told its gig workers who fetch items for delivery that they’ll soon be working for the company’s Whole Foods division.

This means that instead of offering gig work that contractors then pick up and fulfil batches of grocery orders, workers will be classed as Whole Foods employees, working longer hours.
