Wow, suddenly everybody is running Black Friday ads.

All that advance advertising is a sure way to kill a good idea. Remember when Bloomingdale’s invited you to a Friends and Family event? You felt honored to be included and shopped and enjoyed the values. Then everybody had Friends and Family events and invited everybody to come in. And, poof, any sense of specialness around this kind of event fizzled. These days most people feel no great need to respond and would pass up any Friends and Family event. It is just another sale.
