Nordstrom’s management sees a slow recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and is cutting its staff. Macy’s forecast also reflects a cautious approach as management is not sure whether it even can keep stores opens in some coronavirus ravaged areas. All of this creates a very uncertain environment when we think about the all important ‘back-to-school’ season. After all, schools do not want to expose students to possible outbreaks of the virus.
