40% of retail employees say struggling to pay their bills is causing excessive stress

Approximately 40% of retail employees say that the struggle to pay their bills is causing them excessive stress amid the cost of living crisis, according to data from vaping retailer Vape Club in its The Mental Health, Stress and Quitting Smoking study.

The study found that four in 10 retail workers are suffering from excessive stress due to low pay and growing bills, according to an employee study of stress levels across UK job sectors.

Up to 40% of staff have taken time off work due to mental health reasons and 16% of workers in the industry have taken statutory sick days or unpaid leave due to mental health issues.
